gta Archives is there for you!

gta Archives and gta Library operations under COVID-19
Safety measures as of 8 June

The gta Archives and gta Library will open again, in limited capacity, as of 8 June. We ask users to visit the archive and library only in urgent cases. When possible, we prefer written inquiries.

To protect our staff and visitors, a special protection concept will be in place. ETH rules will apply with the following measures and restrictions:

  • Visits are only possible by appointment.
  • Opening hours are Tuesday and Thursday from 10.00 to 16.00. Visitors are granted a time slot. Cancellations should be communicated at least 24 hours in advance.
  • Visitors are requested to wait in front of the gta Archive door and not enter the rooms on their own.
  • Visitors are also requested to bring and wear a protective mask.
  • Hands must be disinfected before entering and leaving the archive rooms or workstations. Dispensers are available.
  • In order to guarantee social distancing guidelines, visitors must remain at their assigned workstations.
  • Library users are requested to communicate the bibliographic information of the books they wish to consult before their visit.
  • Archive users are requested to communicate the inventory numbers of the desired documents before the visit.

We ask users to inform us if they fall ill with COVID-19 and are tested positive within two weeks of their visit. Furthermore, we ask for your understanding that we will pass on your contact details to the relevant authorities for possible contact tracing cases.

Persons who feel ill or have COVID-19 symptoms (cough, fever, breathing difficulties) are not allowed to visit the archive or the library.

We strictly adhere to the applicable directives and recommendations of the authorities and the ETH. The rules of distance, behaviour and hygiene that apply to visitors are also followed by the gta Archives and gta Library team. We are continuously updating our measures based on current guidelines. Visitors must comply with our guidelines and instructions.

gta Archives & gta Library
Muriel Pérez & Afra Häni

The gta Archives’ library is a conglomerate of individual documentary estates and an initial hand set (complimentary copies, gifts, items of exchange), which has long since far exceeded the size of library stocks deserving that name. The library is a reference library. Its stocks are registered via NEBIS and recognisable by the location number “ETH-GTA (Zurich)”. Photocopying of all literature other than fragile items requiring conservation and special handling is permitted. Opening hours: Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from 9.30 to 12.30.

Throughout August and the first two weeks of January the library is completely closed for stocktaking.
