When Lux Guyer opened an office in Zurich in 1924, she was one of the first architects in Switzerland. In a very short time it became famous for its residential buildings for young families, working women living alone, students and the elderly. In the architectural debates of the 1920s, she sought her own way between the positions of avant-garde modernism on the one hand and traditionalists on the other. The publication offers an appreciation of her work with essays on individual aspects of Lux Guyer’s work and a critical catalogue of works.

The monograph on Lux Guyer was written as part of a research project of the Master of Advanced Studies program of the Institute for the History and Theory of Architecture.
