Periscope surfaces materials from the gta Archives that are usually preserved underground. The first display is dedicated to the architecture of retail vitrines as featured in the portfolio Schaufenster (ca. 1905). In the heyday of showcase culture, creating a stage for goods – which simultaneously acted as backdrop to urban life – was a notable architectural task. Schaufenster collected 60 colored collotypes presenting a varied spectrumof state-of-the-art storefront layouts in major German cities, including frontal views, ground plans, and section drawings.
